BackPacking Trip

Last weekend my family and I went backpacking up to Granddaddy Lake in the Uinta Mountains. We had a lot of fun. My 5 year old son came, and hiked up the whole way by himself. He did really awesome and we are so proud of him. We had to tell him often, "Focus on walking not talking." He is a nonstop talker, and we found that it slowed him down when he talked. But it was nearly impossible to stop him from talking. He also caught his first fish. he wanted to catch a fish and roast it like a marshmallow he said. But when he actually saw the fish, it was alive, and he did not want to kill it. he wanted to let it go so it could play with its friends. we told him that we were going to eat it for dinner. When we were in the process of killing it, he was screaming at the top of his lungs, "Don't kit it Daddy!" over and over. I am sure people in all the surrounding lakes could hear him. Quite funny and embarrassing. Then he wanted to carry the dead fish all the way back to camp, and he pretended it was swimming.

We hiked in about 4 1/2 miles to camp the first day. I was surprised at how well I did. When we did the same hike a few years ago, it was a really difficult hike for me. I was frequently out of breath and just about collapsed when we got to camp. This time, I could have kept going. I think that the reason I did so well this time is due to the fact that I recently completed P90X and Insanity. It is amazing how much it makes things easier for me. I love feeling this way! My husband also did a lot better this time too, because he has been doing Power 90. It is amazing how well those programs work. I love it!
